 “Bad” Music The Six Basses are singing at the Los Angeles Visitors Center tonight at 7 PM. Music and Scripture is such a part of our lives that I couldn’t help but share this funny verse. 5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools. (Ecclesiastes 7:5) We hope to see you tonight.

A week ago today I was assigned to be the Tongan Ward high council representative. Up to this point I haven’t spoken or understood a word of Tongan. All I could think of when the assignment came was how to speak with them and would they accept my poor Tongan language skills.
There is a great Scripture explaining the language skills in this situation. 6 Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand. (Judges 12:6) I’m still working on “framing” the phrase Mālō e lelei correctly. For a language that has only 17 letters in the alphabet you’d think it would be a bit easier to learn. It is a great joy and privilege to listen to them sing! |
