Before Bonnie and I married one of the first items we discussed was Valentines-Day. It appears the world works hard on a one-day romance, then forgets the spouse the rest of the year. Good marriages take more than a once-a-year relationship. It takes constant thought, work and effort to make it successful.
The first few months we dated, Valentines-Day came and went without so much as a nod of the holiday. People chided me that was a mistake saying, “His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.” (Job 41:24) After more than 30 years of marriage, our decision to leave that day alone and focus on the rest of the year, must be paying off.
A funny side note, this may be the first Valentines-Day we will go out. What is hilarious is knowing it is a Tongan dinner, dance. I’m about as good on the dance floor as a deaf elephant with three left feet and four broken legs! It looks even more amusing when you see the moves Bonnie makes on the dance floor next to this clodhopper. We are looking forward to the good food and the Tongan dancing!
19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart . . .:
